Pontelatone. Here Company B received particularly heavy artillery fire. SGT Willian T. Kanecki of Ohio was Killed in Action. CPL Morris J. Counihan was lightly wounded in action and returned to duty. CPL Counihan was later killed on Hill 446 with Sidney Heistein.

Villa. Liberated on 16 October by the 7th Infantry after 2 days of vicious fighting. The German Army by this time had become experts in fighting a delaying action. Each road was zeroed-in by artillery or blocked with machine gun emplacements, mortars and mines. Casualties occured with every assault on countless enemy positions. Yet the 7th pressed on toward Dragoni relentlessly. Their next major action - Majorano di Monte.
Between Villa and Liberi, looking West. The main battle came through this spot, from left to right.
Looking North from the outskirts of Villa towards Cese. The main axis of battle passed through this valley and pressed northeastward. Company B and the rest of the 15th Infantry was now given the task of occupying the far hills to protect the left flank of the 7th.
The narrow streets of Profeti. Company B occupied the hills west of here. Such streets were impediments to the movement of tanks and self-propelled guns in 1943. In 2013 we prayed not to meet oncoming traffic.
